MALAGA
Costa del Sol Holidays

Villas to rent, apartments and hotels in Malaga on the Costa del Sol on Spain's southern coast. Malaga is a major port city in Andalucia, southern Spain, on the Costa del Sol coast of the Mediterranean, and is a popular destination with a good choice of hotels, self-catering villas and apartments for rent.

Find hotels or villas and apartments to rent in Malaga, a city surrounded by mountains, lying at the southern base of the Axarquía hills, and two rivers, the Guadalmedina. The historic centre of Malaga is on the river's left bank of the Guadalmedina, whilst the Guadalhorce flows west of the city into the Mediterranean. Malaga's climate is mild and equable, the average annual temperature being about 19 °C (66 °F), making it the ideal family destination for self catering rental villas and apartments.

The city is a popular tourist destination, due mainly to its proximity to the Costa del Sol. Many tourists also visit here to see the birthplace of Pablo Picasso. And Malaga is conveniently positioned to visit other cities such as Seville, Cordoba, Granada, and Jaen, which can be reached by train, bus or car. The main rail station is Malaga-Renfe which is connected with Madrid Atocha by Talgo 200. The high-speed train AVE has reduced travel time to Madrid to just two and a half hours, and a metro system is under construction.

The city centre is just behind the harbour surrounded by the quarters of El Perchel, La Trinidad and Lagunillas. A popular walk leads up the hill to the Gibralfaro Castle, offering extensive views over the city. The castle is next to the Alcazaba, which in turn is next to the inner city. By taking the Paseo del Parque, a promenade that runs alongside a park with many palm trees and statues, you can walk to the harbour, and continue to the Calle Larios the major commercial street of the city.

There is a lively night life all the year round. In El Palo, along the beautiful promenade you'll discover many fish-restaurants and fashionable locals, and on a warm summer night the terraces are an ideal place to start your exploration of the town by night. La Malagueta is a more modern part of the town, with several fashionable bars for young people. The numerous bars in Pedragalejo are among the most fashionable, and you will also find traditional bars and restaurants to enjoy classical Andalucian food.

The Holy Week and the fair ("Feria de Málaga") are the two most well-known of the town's festivals.
