Villas and Apartments in Almeria

Province of Almeria
Villa & Apartment Holiday Rentals

Villas and apartments to rent apartments in Almeria Province and on the Costa Almeria. Almeria Province is largely unspoilt with its spectacular landscapes and many kilometres of beaches and rugged coastline. Almeria has fascinating historic towns such as Mojacar and Turre, and interesting places to visit such as the Cabo de Gata peninsula, Andalucia's largest coastal nature park.

With over 320 days of sun a year and average temperatures of 20 Centigrade, the Costa Almeria is your perfect Spanish holiday destination. And with its distinctive cuisine and friendly local people, Almeria will enthral you with its traditional Spanish culture.

The Costa Almeria is varied and completely unspoilt. In the north are the naturist beaches of Vera together with several new holiday and residential complexes. A little further south is Mojacar with its beautiful 17km long beach and hillside white village. Mojacar clings to a rocky hillside overlooking the Mediterranean, and is within an hour's drive from the city of Almeria.

Mojacar has a long and fascinating history stretching over 4000 years. It was populated by Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Greeks and the Moors. It was under Moorish rule that Mojacar began to flourish - the castle was built and the town walls were expanded and fortified. Because it was Muslim town on the frontier of Christian Europe, Mojacar suffered many brutal incursions.

Today the town still remains remarkably true to its Moorish past. Mojacar is a place that must be explored on foot; you will enjoy incredible views as you walk from the beach to the residential heart of the town at the top of the hill, surrounded by echoes of the past.

The city of Almeria is worth a visit, exploring the Alcazaba castle which overlooks the town. To the west is the developing complex of Almerimar with marinas, golf, hotels and many other facilities. The old fishing town of Adra lies further west and has an interesting castle and archaeological remains.

To the east of the town of Almeria is the rugged and desolate coast of the Cabo de Gata - Nijar natural park. This arid desert landscape has an annual rainfall of less than 20 cm. The area is sparsely populated, with few villages, and many of the coves can only be reached on foot making it especially popular with nature lovers and back-packers.
